Jessica Cheung

BHK, M.Sc. OT

 

Jessica graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Kinetics and a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of British Columbia. She is a Registered Autism Service Provider (RASP).

Jessica has worked with children in a variety of settings from volunteering at Canucks Place Hospice to supporting a pediatric outpatient team in Sri Lanka. She has worked with children with developmental disabilities and acquired injuries in school-based and clinical settings. She has experience working with the physical and mental health aspects of a range of diagnoses including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Developmental Coordination Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome and anxiety disorders. She is an enthusiastic and encouraging therapist who values using a strength-based and play-based approach to develop functional and meaningful skills.  She believes that learning should be fun, child and family centred, and focused on helping each child reach their potential. She uses a relational, neuro-developmental and sensory-based framework to support the child and family in developing the skills, knowledge and tools to succeed.
